featured the alex gopher ‘rechoque redux’ remix and their own wazabi remix a bit back so you’ll know it’s all big room bonkers acid/electro/wiggly bits/large drums. massive buildups/downs are slightly restrained, increasing the tension. full on but with really nice sharp edits behind the madness. and then on the new album they even slip in a couple of really gentle flute & acoustic guitar led trad folk covers**. just hearing the kavinsky remix of sebastian’s ‘embody’ reminded me of a scene…..
it’s velvet ropes, huge speakers, smoke filled booths. ice buckets constantly full. effortlessly suave cigarettes barely staying on the disdainful lips that hold them. lights refracting from dusty glass tables, mirrored walls. future legends being created…..
i say remind, i mean think i’ve seen something like it on a bbc4 themenight.
but it did actually remind me of ‘fire & ice’ by chris barbosa. the track that, once brenda greene dropped her vocal (& changed her name), defined a genre.

imagine aliens invented x. it’s the purest x ever. creatively, they’d make ’let the music play’ and it would be their ultimate battle weapon.
they’d get in the ufo for a spin, hear the track in the vehicle, pootle down to us. hover over a bit, assessing if we’re ready for it. then dreyfuss would rock up with his oversized 9v powered simon/jeanmicheljarresays thing built from tandy, meccano and fuzzy felt. ”wait…..i know what to do…..” press, press, lean behind, furrow brow, forcefully wiggle lead…

the 12″ version of shannon ‘let the music play’ is my favourite song of all time. it’s amazing.
