If I’m honest an 8pm start in a half-full tent for a full set of relatively loitering/minimal sub120 techo, a man standing very still in front of abstract B&W architectural photos wouldn’t usually grab me.
That’s what Gesaffelstein pretty much did at Bestival last weekend & it was totally mesmerizing. Admittedly I wasn’t a tough-to-please punter but just didn’t expect how darn, erm, subtly cool it all was…
His first fag lit with a studied, rare insouciance & we were guided to a neon 70sBerlinTRON, all ashen cheeked & coke-Bowie.
He could’ve actually just stood there for the set, lost in silence; having a fag while acting all mysterious and distant and aloof. I’d have still loved it…..

Some how have managed to stay totally immune and unmoved by LDR, Gesaffelstein mixes and all ….
That’s until our favourite potty-mouthed 212er dropped a verse and some of Foster The People – specifically the newly formed Smims & Belle part – delivered this killer, explosively BIIIG remix….”extended” is their own word – it could be at least 3 times longer for me.
